- UNICEF has now issued a Request for Proposals in order to select a supplier for the provision of Supply and installation of solar systems Al-Shahel Hajjah. UNICEF is supporting LWSC to achieve better quality and continuity of water and sanitation services to affected population in Hajjah governorate through the solarization of water and sanitation infrastructure and systems to reduce the operation cost then to mitigate health and environmental risk associated with service deterioration. Ministry of Water through Local Water Sanitation Corporation (LWSC) in Hajjah requested UNICEF to support the solarization of Al-Shahel water system to be part of fuel smooth exit strategy and reduce the high operation cost due to the fuel cost which will be reflected significantly on the continuity of water provision to host and IDP families are living in Al-Shahel district. UNICEF supported the water supply system in Al-Shahel by solarization of Wadi Wahan lift station which is the 2nd lift station while the 1st lift station and two boreholes still running by diesel engines.
